Linda Crosby brings more than forty years of experience in college and secondary education to her role as an independent college counselor.  It is her goal to make the student’s individual interests, strengths, and priorities central to finding “best fit” colleges where the student will grow and thrive.

You are about to embark upon an exciting journey of self-reflection and exploration.  The college process can be a daunting one, but it can also be fulfilling and fun if you plan carefully and take each step as it arises.  Together we can minimize stress and maximize knowledge in navigating the complex college process.

Experience

A teacher, Assistant Principal, then Director of Guidance at Manchester Essex Regional High School, I created an exemplary college advising program with over 90% of the students going on to college. Recently, as Director of College Counseling at the Waring School in Beverly, MA, I built a college program from scratch, working with students, parents and faculty on all aspects of the college process.

Partnership

Together we will work as a team. I will spend time with you and your family building an on-going relationship that will create a respectful, collaborative approach critical to a successful outcome. Your trust is central in building confidence that you are on the right track. Getting to know you well will enable me to help you grow into the authentic candidate I am confident you will be.

My goal is for you to look back on this time in your life as one of important reflection and growing self-awareness – a journey that has led you to a wonderful next chapter in your academic and personal life. I know you will have positive college outcomes from which to choose, enabling you to find the right fit for your unique talents, goals, and personal priorities.

Comprehensive college planning includes four key steps:

step

1

Develop a relationship with students and their families to ensure that everyone works effectively together as a team.

step

2

Identify criteria for college “fit” and develop a working list of colleges that includes a wide range of schools and selection standards.

step

3

Establish final list of schools to which the student will apply and assist with the completion of college applications.

step

4

Provide continued support and encouragement as final deadlines approach, including meetings, phone call and email consultations.

“Linda knew more about me than I knew about myself. She helped me pick nine great schools, and I ended up attending the right one for me. The funny thing is, I hadn’t even considered my college until she suggested it!”

—S.B., Boston, MA

“Beyond her extensive knowledge of colleges and the college application process, Linda brought warmth and caring to our very anxious family…”

—M.B., Wenham, MA
